I can often drive people mad with the thought that they know exactly why they are where they are - whether they are in an unhappy marriage, a job they hate, or riddled with a disease. They are the only answer to that question.

I remember my visit to a dermatologist a few years ago. I had been suffering from warts on my hands and had been to various dermatologists and alternative healers but had had no success. I was called into his consulting room, I told him my problem and he asked outright, "So tell me why you have warts?" So I understand the frustration of feeling that you don't know when you do. You have the answer to every question that you can think of asking.

So why revert to the concept of God or Source or I AM? Handing power over to 'a greater being' is so much easier than taking the responsibility yourself. Taking responsibility means that you have no one or nothing to blame for where you find yourself, the circumstances you find yourself in and the people you choose to be with. Even when you are being treated badly by others you can't blame them - you have to look at yourself and find out why you choose to be with them and allow them to treat you in a way that you disapprove.

Let's look at a common question people ask about responsibility. "If I am completely in control and fully responsible why would I choose to be subjected to a traumatic home robbery?" It is important to realise that no Soul would choose unhappiness, grief and anxiety when we all come from unconditional love (which is essentially what God, Source or the Great I AM is). Using this as a starting point you have to work back to why you are so far from this love. It is your resistance to the flow of life's journey that causes such incidents. It is the fact that your Ego is uncomfortable with your own greatness. Greatness is a huge responsibility. Think of all who have achieved greatness and what they went through as a result: Jesus who was persecuted and crucified; Mahatma Ghandi who starved himself for his cause; Nelson Mandela who was forced to operate underground and eventually jailed for 27 years; and the list goes on. But don't let this put you off because that is what your Ego would do. Those Souls know that, given the opportunity, they would do it again the same. They are heading for a goal; a goal greater than anything they could have imagined. Shouldn't you be doing the same?

When faced with the question from my dermatologist I could have responded with 'Oh, God knows' in the dismissive, take-no-responsibility way that people choose to say it. Instead I chose to investigate it further, hence starting a journey that is only just beginning. A journey filled with moments of triumph and joy but also anxiety and pain as I resist the discomfort of responsibility. In this way I have chosen to find out for myself what my body and my experiences are teaching me and, in that way, I'm learning that 'Oh, God knows' means that I have the answer to every question I will ever ask. For I am created of Source and therefore I am Source, as you are. I am. You are. God knows.
